وَحْيٌ
waḥy
revelation / divine inspiration
B1nounroot: و-ح-ي
وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى
wa-mā yanṭiqu ʿani al-hawā in huwa illā waḥyun yūḥā
Nor does he speak from his own desire. It is only a revelation revealed (53:3-4)
سُجُودٌ
sujūd
prostration

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُنْ مِنَ السَّاجِدِينَ
fa-sabbiḥ biḥamdi rabbika wa-kun mina as-sājidīn
So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate (15:98)
رُكُوعٌ
rukūʿ
bowing (in prayer)

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ارْكَعُوا وَاسْجُدُوا وَاعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمْ
yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū irkaʿū wasjudū waʿbudū rabbakum
O you who believe, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord (22:77)
تَسْبِيحٌ
tasbīḥ
glorification (of God) / saying subḥānAllāh
B1nounroot: س-ب-ح
يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ
yusabbiḥu lillāhi mā fī as-samāwāti wa-mā fī al-arḍ
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies Allah (62:1)
اسْتِغْفَارٌ
istighfār
seeking forgiveness
B1nounroot: غ-ف-ر
وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
wa-mā kāna Allāhu muʿadhdhibahum wa-hum yastaghfirūn
But Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness (8:33)
خُشُوعٌ
khushūʿ
humility / reverence / awe (in worship)

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ
qad aflaḥa al-muʾminūna alladhīna hum fī ṣalātihim khāshiʿūn
Certainly the believers have succeeded - those who are humbly reverent during their prayer (23:1-2)
يَقِينٌ
yaqīn
certainty / absolute conviction

وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقِينُ
waʿbud rabbaka ḥattā yaʾtiyaka al-yaqīn
And worship your Lord until the certainty comes to you (15:99)
بَيِّنَةٌ
bayyinah
clear evidence / clear proof

لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مُنْفَكِّينَ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ
lam yakuni alladhīna kafarū min ahli al-kitābi munfakkīna ḥattā taʾtiyahumu al-bayyinah
Those who disbelieved from the People of the Book were not to be parted until the clear evidence came to them (98:1)
الرَّحْمٰنُ
ar-Raḥmān
The Most Merciful (divine name)
A1nounroot: ر-ح-م
الرَّحْمٰنُ عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ
ar-Raḥmānu ʿallama al-Qurʾān
The Most Merciful taught the Quran (55:1-2)
تَوَكَّلَ
tawakkala
he relied (on God) / he placed trust
A2verbroot: و-ك-ل
وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ
wa-ʿalā Allāhi falyatawakkali al-muʾminūn
And upon Allah let the believers rely (3:122)
الْوَدُودُ
al-Wadūd
The Most Loving (divine name)
A2nounroot: و-د-د
وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ
wa-huwa al-Ghafūru al-Wadūd
And He is the Forgiving, the Most Loving (85:14)
بَعَثَ
baʿatha
he sent / he raised / he resurrected
A2verbroot: ب-ع-ث
هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الْأُمِّيِّينَ رَسُولًا مِنْهُمْ
huwa alladhī baʿatha fī al-ummiyyīna rasūlan minhum
It is He who sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves (62:2)
