عَفَا
ʿafā
he pardoned / he excused
B1verbroot: ع-ف-و
وَلْيَعْفُوا وَلْيَصْفَحُوا أَلَا تُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ
wal-yaʿfū wal-yaṣfaḥū alā tuḥibbūna an yaghfira Allāhu lakum
Let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you? (24:22)
رِضْوَانٌ
riḍwān
divine pleasure / good pleasure / acceptance
B1nounroot: ر-ض-ي
وَرِضْوَانٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ
wa-riḍwānun mina Allāhi akbar
And the pleasure of Allah is greater (9:72)
سُورَةٌ
sūrah
chapter (of the Quran)

سُورَةٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهَا وَفَرَضْنَاهَا
sūratun anzalnāhā wa-faraḍnāhā
A surah which We have sent down and made obligatory (24:1)

هَلْ جَزَاءُ الْإِحْسَانِ إِلَّا الْإِحْسَانُ
hal jazāʾu al-iḥsāni illā al-iḥsān
Is the reward for good anything but good? (55:60)
خَلِيلٌ
khalīl
intimate friend / close companion

وَاتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلًا
wattakhadha Allāhu Ibrāhīma khalīlā
And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend (4:125)
رُوحٌ
rūḥ
spirit / soul / divine spirit
A2nounroot: ر-و-ح
وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي
wa-yasʾalūnaka ʿani ar-rūḥi quli ar-rūḥu min amri rabbī
And they ask you about the spirit. Say: The spirit is from the command of my Lord (17:85)
فِطْرَةٌ
fiṭrah
natural disposition / innate nature / original creation

فِطْرَتَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا
fiṭrata Allāhi allatī faṭara an-nāsa ʿalayhā
The natural disposition of Allah upon which He has created people (30:30)
خَلَدَ
khalada
he remained forever / he was immortal
B1verbroot: خ-ل-د
خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا
khālidīna fīhā abadā
Abiding therein forever (4:57)
سَجَدَ
sajada
he prostrated / he bowed down
A2verbroot: س-ج-د
وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ
wa-lillāhi yasjudu man fī as-samāwāti wal-arḍ
And to Allah prostrates whatever is in the heavens and the earth (16:49)
أَمَانٌ
amān
safety / security / peace

وَمَنْ دَخَلَهُ كَانَ آمِنًا
wa-man dakhalahū kāna āminā
And whoever enters it shall be safe (3:97)
خَتَمَ
khatama
he sealed / he concluded
B1verbroot: خ-ت-م
خَتَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَعَلَى سَمْعِهِمْ
khatama Allāhu ʿalā qulūbihim wa-ʿalā samʿihim
Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing (2:7)
بَيَّنَ
bayyana
he made clear / he explained / he clarified
B1verbroot: ب-ي-ن
كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
kadhālika yubayyinu Allāhu lakum āyātihī laʿallakum taʿqilūn
Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you might use reason (2:242)
