بَرَكَةٌ
barakah
blessing / divine grace
A2nounroot: ب-ر-ك
كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ
kitābun anzalnāhu ilayka mubārak
This is a blessed Book which We have revealed to you (38:29)
فِتْنَةٌ
fitnah
trial / tribulation / temptation
A2nounroot: ف-ت-ن
وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلَادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ
waʿlamū annamā amwālukum wa-awlādukum fitnah
And know that your wealth and your children are but a trial (8:28)
آخِرَةٌ
ākhirah
hereafter / afterlife
A2nounroot: أ-خ-ر
وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنَ الْأُولَى
wa-lal-ākhiratu khayrun laka mina al-ūlā
And the Hereafter is better for you than the first life (93:4)
دُنْيَا
dunyā
worldly life / this world
A2nounroot: د-ن-و
وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ
wa-mā al-ḥayātu ad-dunyā illā matāʿu al-ghurūr
And the worldly life is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion (3:185)
حِسَابٌ
ḥisāb
reckoning / account / judgment
A2nounroot: ح-س-ب
وَاللَّهُ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ
wallāhu sarīʿu al-ḥisāb
And Allah is swift in account (2:202)
مِيزَانٌ
mīzān
balance / scale
A2nounroot: و-ز-ن
وَنَضَعُ الْمَوَازِينَ الْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
wa-naḍaʿu al-mawāzīna al-qisṭa liyawmi al-qiyāmah
And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection (21:47)
عَرْشٌ
ʿarsh
throne
A2nounroot: ع-ر-ش
الرَّحْمَنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَى
ar-raḥmānu ʿalā al-ʿarshi istawā
The Most Merciful rose over the Throne (20:5)
تَقْوَى
taqwā
God-consciousness / piety / mindfulness of God
A2nounroot: و-ق-ي
وَتَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى
wa-tazawwadū fa-inna khayra az-zādi at-taqwā
And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is taqwa (2:197)
إِسْلَامٌ
islām
submission (to God) / Islam
A2nounroot: س-ل-م
إِنَّ الدِّينَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الْإِسْلَامُ
inna ad-dīna ʿinda Allāhi al-islām
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam (3:19)
مُسْلِمٌ
muslim
Muslim / one who submits (to God)
A2nounroot: س-ل-م
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ أَسْلِمْ قَالَ أَسْلَمْتُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
idh qāla lahū rabbuhū aslim qāla aslamtu lirabbi al-ʿālamīn
When his Lord said to him: Submit. He said: I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds (2:131)
صَبَرَ
ṣabara
he was patient / he persevered
B1verbroot: ص-ب-ر
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا أَجْرَهُمْ بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
wa-lanajziyanna alladhīna ṣabarū ajrahum bi-aḥsani mā kānū yaʿmalūn
And We will surely reward those who were patient with their reward according to the best of what they used to do (16:96)
تَابَ
tāba
he repented / he turned back (to God)
B1verbroot: ت-و-ب
وَمَنْ تَابَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَإِنَّهُ يَتُوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَتَابًا
wa-man tāba wa-ʿamila ṣāliḥan fa-innahū yatūbu ilā Allāhi matābā
And whoever repents and does righteousness, indeed he turns to Allah with true repentance (25:71)
