وَقُلْ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا
wa-qul jāʾa al-ḥaqqu wa-zahaqa al-bāṭilu inna al-bāṭila kāna zahūqā
And say: Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed, falsehood is bound to depart (17:81)
Grammar
Active participle used as noun. Opposite of حَقٌّ (truth, q027). Verb: بَطَلَ (to become void/null). Means anything contrary to truth and justice.
Culture
The Prophet ﷺ recited this verse when entering Makkah and clearing the Kaaba of idols — truth prevailing over falsehood.
