lamp / torch / illuminating light

wa-jaʿala fīhā sirājan wa-qamaran munīrā
And placed therein a lamp (the sun) and a luminous moon (25:61)
Grammar
Masculine noun. Plural: سُرُجٌ (suruj). Used for the sun (سِرَاجٌ وَهَّاجٌ, blazing lamp, 78:13). Also describes the Prophet: سِرَاجًا مُنِيرًا (33:46).
Culture
The Quran uses different words for light sources: the sun is a sirāj (lamp), while the moon has reflected nūr (light) — scientifically accurate imagery.
