And you see the mountains, thinking them rigid, while they will pass as the passing of clouds (27:88)
Grammar

Masculine noun. Plural: جِبَالٌ (jibāl). Mountains are called رَوَاسِيَ (firm pegs) in some verses.

Culture

Mountains in the Quran serve as pegs stabilizing the earth and as symbols of immovability. On the Day of Judgment they will be moved.
