Masculine noun. No known Arabic root — possibly a loanword. Also used for the barrier between two seas (25:53, 55:20). Plural: بَرَازِخُ.
Culture
In Islamic eschatology, the barzakh is the intermediate state between death and resurrection — souls await the Day of Judgment there.
