وَأَنْكِحُوا الْأَيَامَى مِنْكُمْ وَالصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ
wa-ankiḥū al-ayāmā minkum waṣ-ṣāliḥīna min ʿibādikum
And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your servants (24:32)
Grammar
Masculine noun (maṣdar). Verb: نَكَحَ / أَنْكَحَ (to marry). Form IV أَنْكَحَ is used for giving in marriage. The imperative here is addressed to the community.
Culture
Marriage in Islam is a sacred contract (ʿaqd) and an act of worship. The Quran describes spouses as garments for each other (2:187).
