More Compounds, Feminine Forms & Hundreds

11 words · ~15 min

Grammar focus

Practice compound numbers with higher tens (53, 67, 74, 86, 91, 99). Note the feminine form of 11: إحدى عشرة. For hundreds, 200 uses the dual form مئتان. 300-900 use an iḍāfa construction: the unit number (3-10 in masculine form, since مئة is feminine) + مئة.

Cultural note

99 (تسعة وتسعون) holds special significance in Islam - God has 99 beautiful names (أسماء الله الحسنى). Muslims often use prayer beads (سبحة) with 99 beads to recite these names.
